In the 550, the TRs get stowed at 60kias.

Same in the 501 no thrust above 60 to avoid throwing crap in front and sucking it in but ok to to leave buckets out no thrust thereafter if needed

I think the variable costs are under $400 an hour if you carefully plan your fuel stops.

That, at BEST, pays for fuel.

Maintenance is probably $200-300 an hour.

Engine reserve on a pair of JT15D-1A is not know to me exactly, and depends on whether you can find used engines to buy instead of HSI/OH. But I'd think you would be wise to budget at least $200/hour for a pair.

So maybe you can get variable/direct costs around $800-900 an hour.

I'll report back in a year. Used motors are about 100/hr per motor. BUT, with 800 hours left (more than I'll own this thing), I think I've bottomed out on the depreciation curve (based on how cheap I purchased this thing for) so I don't think the motors are costing me anything as long as I don't sell the airplane with 3 hours left on them. There's no way maintenance is going to be 200-300 an hour. This thing is simpler than a Baron which is probably closer to 60-80 an hour. The parts are cheaper too because there are so many used ones out there.

This is my cheap jet experience. So far so good but past success is no prediction of future success. I'll share the experience.

Michael, maybe I missed it, but does your 501SP have ADS-B? If not, what is it going to cost to have it done?

Is there a long range tank option for the earlier Citations?

Sierra is no longer doing those type of mods.

How much extra fuel does the Branson tank give?

And if they were you would be a goofball to buy it. Would blow your “buy a Citation for the part out cost” strategy.

So what's the max range you can get out of one of these with all available mods?

One mod is the engine replacement program. I think it gives you close to 2,000 miles with the fuel mod. I think the 550 goes to 2400 miles.

OK, but what's the max range/aux fuel mod you can do without going Sierra and Williams?

I suppose what I'm asking is - is this the aircraft I should be looking at to replace all my international airline travel down the road? For it to be feasible, it needs at least 1500nm range.
