That is 1 nice airplane..

Any Chance we could get some rough dollar amounts for this project?

Also- It looks like you can get land at St. Barts BUT can you get out?

I believe departure, over the water, should not be too tough.

Spike- Still need enough runway to get airborne with enough fuel. I was curious of the performance of the 414. St. Barts get pretty hot.

Wrong airplane for St-Barts. Split Flaps are all drag, no lift. Never seen a Twin Cessna in St-Barts. Twins operating there are Twin Otter, B-N Islander, Piper Aztec. MU-2 from St-Croix apparently operated in/out it there as well.

There is however a YouTube video showing a Cessna 402C landing in St.-Barts. That's basically an unpressurized 414A. So I guess anything is possible !

That's what it looks like but that's not true. Take another look at Aerodynamics for Naval Aviators split flaps are fairly lift efficient.

If you haven't looked at these vids on the big screen, I recommend it. This most recent flight (back to St. Barth) has fabulous footage of the regatta as well as the flight (the panel comes alive). No surprise, of course, since Christophe is a professional photographer.
I used a Chromecast to hook it up to a 55 inch monitor, but a hard wired hookup might be better, even. Outstanding stuff.

I've seen that before. I wonder what his flying background is?

That is a textbook perfect approach and landing for St-Bart's. Hard to practice this however and if you don't nail the landing, you are off into the sand at the end.

I've been a passenger twice on landings into St-Bart's, once in a stock C172N and once in a Horton STOL C210N. The C172N surprisingly ate up the whole runway upon landing, so it's heavily technique-defendant in what is the world's most difficult public runway.

So, how much money does he have tied up in this project?
Best guess?.
Panel: say 100 amu
Interior: say 50 amu
Paint: say 35 amu
Initial acquisition: ? No clue
A lot of plane for what, 500 amu?

Strange to go for that puny little engine monitor. Why no big mo? He obviously likes glass. Space?

Quite the pilot!

Watch how RSTOL flaps work on a Twin Cessna:

http://youtu.be/R4oTgTRrZRg

Theses flaps shave 400 foot from the landing distance of a Cessna 414 and even more off the take-off:

https://www.redskyventures.org/doc/gene ... arison.pdf

I'd like to see how this guy takes off from St-Bart's, my guess is minimum fuel and he's skimming the beach. Zero engine out margin that's for sure.

Great looking plane.

Problem with piston twins is that sooner or later you're gonna get a hankering for a turbine twin. That's just how it is. It's a natural progression. I'll give Christophe 5 years before he's there and then he has to buy all those fancy avionics all over again... :D

He can upgrade to a King Air B200 with G1000 and winglets.

Here is one taking off at St-Barthélemy TFFJ:

In an MU2? In my sleep. In a 414? Uh-uh. Nope. That guy's got better chops (and bigger balls) than me, lol. That was one hell of an approach.
