It's the middle that kills you. At the bottom, you don't have much capital invested anyway and parting out is a reasonably decent exit strategy. At the top you get a great plane for cheap. But the middle you're paying a premium for an airplane that is neither a quick part out or viable for another 10-20 years without major investment.

The feedback had been phenomenal, thank you.
I will say it took me two days to relocate this thread when they started the new (and proper) forum.
Understand that if possible by a great plane at a little Cost. But I still can't afford that at this time.
Cost is under $27,000 - IF it passes pre purchase and annual.
Yes we plan on new hoses, etc - to include checking cams and possible top overhaul. And twin commanche training And insurance
I really like the fly it after it checks out IFR certified and save money for unforeseen items.

Unless your partner just likes swinging wrenches, that would give me serious pause. Top overhaul on a turbocharged plane is a big, invasive procedure.

Any one looking at purchasing a Comanche, single or twin, should research that the 1000 hour gear inspection requirements have been accomplished by a competent shop or mechanic. Be sure this is not a pencil whip job as it involves precise measurements of the gear components.....not just a "shake it" test and a log entry. Many of the fleet have not been properly inspected for this issue.
That said, I have flown my Twin Comanche 47 years and 6500 hours, mostly for business, and it has been a great transportation machine. I have feathered one in cruise several times (cracked oil cooler and fuel flow probem) and flown to an uneventful landing both times. I was in mountain terrain and a single engine airplane would not likely been a non event.
