Scott.....I think if I'm going to go with the 750's I'll just bite the bucket and add the G600. If you don't mind me asking......how did you do your transition training?

I'm thinking that with the rush of TBM owners upgrading to the 900 that there could be some very nice 850's coming on the market in the next 6 months. Possibly softening the 850 market somewhat also.

Michael,
I did the SimCom 5 day initial training. AVEX picked up the plane in Florida (the pre buy was done at Socata) and took it to CA for the avionics. When it was done I went out and did about 10 hours in the plane with a couple different very capable TBM instructors, plus some ground training on the G600. I had about 275 hours of turbine time in the Meridian.

The transition is not that difficult, My insurance did not require any dual time. I used Wings Insurance and got a very good rate, less than the Meridian for much better coverage. I did make sure I had longer, stabilized approaches (at least 3 miles) and no turns under 120 knots. 85 knots over the numbers and keep some torque in (15%) until the flare. Keep the bump on the nose (for the prop governor) sighted at the end of the runway.

I typically see 275 knots on about 53 gph. Marc usually sees 280 kts. RVSM will give me a little more range.

Feel free to call me anytime if you want to talk. 814-450-9196

I usually make avionics changes when I purchase an airplane ... like you are considering.

In my case, with the King Air, I have steam gauges and enjoyed the initial money savings on the airplane. My good stuff is a G796 on a Angerole mount with Satellite, Foreflight with Stratus II, Garmin 530, Avidyne EX600, KING 250 autopilot / flight director. I think it would be $70-$100k for the type of panel upgrade I would like with dual G600's and Trilogy and G650/G750 w satellite weather but this panel is still extremely effective for heavy IFR flying attached to such a capable airframe.

Thanks Scott,
I most definitely will....... Especially as I get deeper into this whole process.

I bought a700 C2 last July and upgraded the panel with a G600, dual GTN 750's, and L3 trilogy. Although the Honeywell EFIS system is very nice that came stock and I wouldn't call it steam gauges.
I also did remote transponders, remote audio, XM weather and radio.

Wow Scott! When I sent your policy to you there was a photo of your aircraft on the cover - by the looks of it we should have substituted a picture of the aircraft for a picture of your panel! WOW that is fantastic.....

Hi Scott,
I noticed you flipped the MFD/PFD. I've only seen that on the co-pilot side, never on the left side. What thinking went into your decision to do it that way?

Marc posted a pic of his panel before also and he has it set up the same way. Something about the easier button pushing

Mine is the same. All switches for PFD are on the right now.
Easier to control alt pre select, hdg, gpss, vs, with your right hand will you fly and use ptt with left hand.

Anybody install an AOA indicator? I was thinking about it if I'm doing the rest of the avionics.

I would like to get one but im waithing to see if Garmin gets anything out that would work with the G600.

Marc,

You would think with all to bells and whistles with the GTN 750 and G600 they could incorporate an AOA?

They have it on the PC12 with the G600 conversion.
I want it on the TBM, please listen Trek.

[quote=Richard Smart]
Scott you mentioned that you had a Meridian before the TBM.
Any chance of a general report from you or other owners, of how you found the Meridian.
Have a 1999 A36, 1955 T28B Trojan.
