Kent,

To be clear you flew a standard velocity, not the turbine shown, correct?

WOW! That is one sweet flying machine! You can hold the stick all the way back and it just bobs like a porpoise (if you add power, you climb while bobbing, if you reduce power, you descend while bobbing). I guess the only way to stall it, is to take a dive and then pull back very quickly.

Also if out of CG to the rear, canard aircraft have been known to go into unrecoverable deep stalls when the main wing stalls.

This did happen during the development of the airframe. However, the aircraft did not spin. It just did a high rate wings level descent. iirc the pilot was seriously injured (broken back?) but survived.

So have standard aircraft.

Sheldon,

You are correct, but I did talk with the guys who are building the turbine version. Exciting stuff.

Thanks for posting this Sheldon. I've been following this for a couple of years now. @ the 2009 SNF I asked the Velocity guys about the status of things, they didn't have much to offer. I'm afraid it is yet another casualty of this inconvenient economy we've found ourselves in.

I love the concept of this plane though. It's kind of like a baby single engine Piaggio.

I agree with Todd though, if it is offered in Kit form only, the market will be extremely limited. Hope they can bring this to market as a certified aircraft. Then again, I'm also holding out for the Cirrus Jet

Of course, it's a V-Tail! My dream would be to have a beautiful house at Poplar Grove, a large hangar with a white floor and my Baby Doll and a Cirrus Vision painted like the HondaJet, parked at angles, nose to nose.

Are you guessing as to the availability/price of the Velocity Turbo Sheldon or do you have some confirmed information?

The other day I saw a Long-Eze with a jet engine at KSUX. The owner-builder was just getting ready to do some high-speed taxi tests. The engine came of a helicopter (Sea King ?) with the gearbox removed and a metal outlet cone welded to it. Looked like a wild ride in the making.

I emailed Duane Swing at Velocity the other day he told me the Velocity Turbo has been shelved for now due to the economy. Hopefully things change in the futures such a nice looking airplane should be in the air.

No, like you I spend many hours pondering things such as......

"Is it ethical to yell MOVIE in a crowded Fire House"?

"Is a bear Catholic"?

"Does the Pope crap in the woods"?

These questions and many others often riddle my mind :bugeye:  :duck:
