The Cliffs notes version is to find a small shop or a good mechanic who you trust to do your work. Generally, the bigger the shop, the bigger the bill. Find who your local Ag operators and sky dive guys use and see if they are any good. There are a lot of guys with tons of PT6 experience who freelance and a little bit of asking around can give you a good idea about who to use and who to avoid.

Part 91, 2000 hrs

And the TBO is still 3750 hours?

I find it really odd the HSI interval is unbalanced, first instance I know of this.

I wonder why the engine knows it can last longer if you are part 91?

If I was you, I'd be tempted to do the HSI at 2000 and then overfly the TBO to 4000. The HSI is mandatory, the overhaul is not, so you should get another 2000 hours. 250 hours past TBO is relatively insignificant extra wear, it would be like "free" hours.

Mike, that is my plan. Given that you have folks getting 8,000hrs on the same engine doing regular inspections and more frequent HSI inspections like Craig I'm of the opinion that the engine has way more hours available than a 3500 TBO.

I dont think there is a difference between part 91 or 135.
Its basically 1750-2000 hrs for the HSI.
Same as the -64/66 in the TBM.

United Aircraft had a Sabreliner back in 1980. The tail fit in the hangar, but not through the opening. They made a ramp for the nose wheel to ride over, allowing the tail to dip under the opening.

PT6 maintenance.... watch the start temps, when they start to be hotter than usual , it is probably time to change the battery. ( we used to change between 2 and 3 years )
