The Deltahawk diesel is nearing certification and it looks like the first STC will be for the SR20.

http://www.deltahawkengines.com/PDFs/Ci ... elease.pdf

Now that would make for an economical personal ship!

They have engines out to a number of OEM's, including American Champion. It will be awesome on a Scout!

What I dont understand is they are hoping for a certification on the 180 hp and Cirrus needs the 200 hp model ?

How good is that engine?

This proof-ofconcept prototype is currently undergoing flight testing, with the intent of obtaining an STC for the installation after engine Type Certification is obtained.
Yep, that sounds like an engine that's ready to go...

If nearing certification means the same as it does at Avidyne you've got another 5 years to wait.

I like the way that Cowling looks.. very low drag!

The DeltaHawk engine design is the most innovative of any competitors.

I hope they are successful. :cross:

This 180HP engine would be great for 172s, V6 for Bo/Baron/182s, V8 for the Duke?

Delta Hawk guys said at Sun n Fun that there would not be a V-6. Was easier to do a V-8. But 400hp :D If we ever see it.

Wow good news on the Diesel STC for the Cirrus. We may have to wait many years for the tech. to get refined, but the Bonanza diesel STC market can't be ignored - hopefully anyway. I'd personally pay top dollar!!

I am usually an optimist.

I have to admit that I am not holding my breath for the super-exciting, super-duper efficient, diesel aviation engine from Deltahawk. I have heard this song and dance form them for the past 5 years. Every year, certification is around the corner. In the meantime, CMI has certified a diesel engine (even though they just licensed it from SMA). I am placing my bet on CMI in bringing a diesel engine that could be used in Bo's and Barons. Chinese investors did not buy CMI to just continue producing LL burning engines. My guess is that the top priority for CMI is developing all flavors (power output) of diesel engines for the Chinese market. My $0.02.
