I think that is proven to be true with the 421 vs 414 winglet STC. The 421 gains 3'-ish wingspan, with a significant performance difference, the 414 gains no wingspan and marginal performance difference.


Yeah I have suspected that is the majority of the gain. I understand the theory but the 414 kit is the only one I ever saw that is not also adding 3 ft of wingspan.

And if it does not really make a noticeable gain on the 414.....

Have any other GA STCs been tested with winglets added in place of the stock wingtips and not extending the wings as part of the mod?
