The G1000 records each engine tach. time separately, and the airframe is equipped with a traditional hour meter, that according to the wiring diagram, starts to run after the right engine produces oil pressure.

I have a customer that shows an hour difference between the two engines (about 575 hours) which is certainly explainable, but there is about 100 hours less shown on the hour meter.

I am trying to figure out if this disparity is normal for this set-up, or if the hour meter may be running slow.

Thank You

Sometimes, on retractables they can put a switch that starts moving the hour meter after the wheels are retracted. That way, the airframe only records flying time.

Patrick.

Two different Seneca IIIs I fly and a II have a squat switch and the Hobbs is tied to it. I would think the V is the same.
