you would avoid Avidyne due to the integrated engine monitoring system and would want it replace with a JPI or something
Yes that is correct, solely because it could allow you a pathway to rip out the entire Avidyne system and put something else in like a G500 or whatever else comes down the line.
I was never trying to imply JPI or EI would have better needles or display more accurate values than Avidyne. My point was a pathway to untether the end user from the
entire Avidyne Entegra suite. The problem to over come with the Entegra system should it become a boat anchor is the
engine monitor and systems. This why I started spit wadding about a solution from JPI or EI. Apologize if that point was not clear from onset.
At present date should the Entegra become a boat anchor your only option is to install the G950 at $200k. If Avidyne brings the R9 to the Meridian, which they announced in 2009, my opinion could change. Similar arguments could be made for the G1000 as well but Garmin is a bigger company with more horsepower and things seem to happen a lot quicker for them than Avidyne. I'd hazard to say the NXI upgrade will happen for the G1000 equipped Meridians.
