Here's some data about how long it takes to get to the middle of the country (a bit beyond the Mits' range if I'm honest) between a Solitaire (fast bird, fits me, a pit bull named Leo, and a few 120 lbs. 20-somethings named Who Cares? with 2700lbs. fuel) and a -10 Merlin (slower bird, fits me, three pits, three kids, 145 lbs. 30-something wife, and in-laws with 3000lbs. fuel).

The data comes in four sets, and as APA in Denver approximates the middle of the country, I picked points East, West, North and South that I go to for my sample. Fuel is at 2.77$ because that's my average.
KRDU to KAPA- Raleigh to Denver- Merlin costs $150 more, takes one more minute. KSFO to KAPA- San Fran to Denver- Merlin costs $137 more, takes two more minutes KLRD to KAPA- Laredo to Denver- Merlin costs $...
...wife is making me stop using he phone, but you have enough data for the rest.

Obviously you've never sat in either, nor have you ever had a need to carry around a family. Or needed to fly long legs. That's cool.
Both great birds. This is more suitable for my current needs. I'm just amazed at how little time is saved by the faster one.

Swear to God, some of these guys have seen the crap I got up to in OSH and PROP, two years ago I'd have agreed. This girl is something entirely different and the inlaws...well, he did the cooking and we're sitting around getting trashed on gin I made.
Good folks all around. Also, if it goes sideways, it's not as if they aren't making 20-somethings anymore...
