What is the life limit on the TBM airframe? I'm surprised that some are being scrapped already.

From TBM MM,

WING LIFE LIMITS
The wing, part number T700F5720000, is limited due to main 25 % spar life limit to 41 600 hours.

FUSELAGE LIFE LIMITS
The fuselage assembly part number T700C5300000 (without pilot door) or part number T700C5300001 (with pilot door), has a life limit of 12 000 flights or 16 200 flight hours, whichever occurs first.

I think Socata/Daher or Quest has done something to extend this, but I don't know if it has made it to all airframes yet.

Quest did it and they got it extended to 17,000 cycles. N702QD had somewhere between 14k and 15k cycles on it when it was dropped off at the scrap yard about a week ago. I flew that airplane when I was 16. I felt like a god. TBMs make you feel godly.

So it was not really timed out as they still had a few 1000 of cycles to go.
Thats pretty impressive to get this much time on this airframe.
I agree that if you reach those numbers, part it out and buy a new one, its paid for.
