You cant talk to just one tower.
You talk on code or Frequency X
Now every tower/cell site within sight then hears you talking on X,
and thus can't use channel X to talk to other Cell phones.
On the ground your X does not go very far, at 4000ft in flatland it goes for 50+ miles.
Wiping out X for ALL the cell towers that can see your plane.
So how about an app or setting that tells the phone to only use "frequency X"?
If the phone can pick up all these frequencies and towers it seems it should also be able to limit itself to only use certain frequencies. The phone must know what it's doing no?
When I turn off WIFI on my iPhone and go to the Map App it shows my location at the cell tower my phone is talking to. The phone seems to know what tower it's using.
