Who here knows about these from an ownership standpoint?

Autocorrect strikes again? No matter how I read it, that sentence makes no sense, although I sense a teasing tone of voice.

No personal CJ experience, but the eastern planes have enough support around the USA to keep you flying. Parts for the Yaks are abundant, so I would expect the CJ series to be similar in parts support or you can figure out a way to get a yak part to work.

I fly and maintain a Zlin 526 and maintain my dad's Sukhoi. We almost bought a Yak instead of a Zlin.

Good luck

This one hasn't seen Lazarus.

But she probably would love it.

Strangely, she like the C55, but has yet to be a fan of the 340.

I think she equates Beechcraft to Bentley and Cessnas to Chevys.

Though she certainly seem to like the trip to KOCF in the 310R.

Likes the additional room.

The word is that they have superb handling qualities and can be operated for something close to the cost of a 182. It's a radial with pneumatic systems, so it's not for someone not comfortable with getting their hands dirty.

The downside seems to be the factory exhaust and the spar in the horizontal stabilizer. I think that there are western fixes for each.

I was very interested years ago but the timing never quite worked out for me. For some reason there are tons of them on the market right now. It seems like even the gurus of the type are selling. It makes me think that there may be some new issue with the planes that hasn't been widely disseminated as of yet.

Lot of hours in Nanchang and I have owned several Yaks. Have about 12 years owning and maintaining.

You really want an m14 powered Nanchang. They fetch $100-$150k these days. They handle a lot like a T34 type airplane. Not an aerobatic monster but great for Gentlemans Acro.

They require a fair amount of attention. Best if you are a mechanical person. Tons of great mods. Air system was never an issue for me because I took care of it (surprising how that is...).

The sounds remind me of an olde diesel municipal bus (pfffft-sssssss).

Delightful in the air. Some apparently struggle with re-learning how-to taxi. Love the round engine sounds.

Well this would be toy, but would be a great "office ambassador" for certain. Seems like the lower power motor would burn less gas and none of our group would have the skills to really ring it out. We'd be looking fairly low end of market. The one we went to see was way nicer than I expected.

The 285 is a fine motor especially in Florida.
The M14 just feels like almost double the power. But at the lower price point you can't go wrong.

They really are a hoot once you get to the runway haha
Turn all the switches on, push all the levers forward and off you go*

* Actually this doesn't work on the Hs6 motor because some engineer decided for full rich pull mixture all the way AFT would be better..
