Craig,
I hope you are running out of new ownership hitches. As you know, I just bought a Solitaire and I'm hoping to start off on a better foot. Except the interior shop already ran a screw through some wires and screwed up the AP, gps and flight director. Hopefully, the avionics shop will find the problem in under a million hours

One. It can be run off either engine's bleed air or (normally) both... It's located in the aft part of the fuselage/aft avionics bay/AKA "the hell hole"

Merlin has two ACM's, one run off of each turbine. Have not had any problems with mine.

Once these aircraft get flown regularly and maintained by the right people you end up with a mostly trouble free machine. None of them do well when they just sit, they need to fly.

One.

1973 and prior it was an Air Research model, afterward it was a Hamilton Standard. The Ham Stand model is preferred.

I have more MX bitches and less real hitches, lol. The MU2 is well thought out, properly engineered, and really isn't that bad to work on. In the past 50-75 hours of flight time, I've suffered this past insult and one other; I guess that the other problem was related to a bad set of batteries (they came that way from the factory, they are getting replaced free of charge at my next 100 hour inspection; JetAir stands behind their work) or a flow divider sticking from disuse. Also, it's a matter of experience; now I know how to remove things in the back to make the job I just did take a few hours instead of a few days. I also know the engine compartment pretty well and how to work with some of the accessories. I had the same gripes with my A* when I first bought it, and after I learned a little and knew what to do that thing became very reliable. I got stuck once because of a starter. Big deal.

My issue, more than anything else, is that I'm a little stressed and pressed for time because I just opened another business a time zone away and little BS is pissing me off more than it should. Really, if I were giving myself advice, I would probably tell me to have a Coke and a smile and relax.

Yup, I'm sure this is true. The last owner flew this airplane less in the last two years than I have in the last two months. He also did business with a shop who appears to have pencil whipped the last few inspections; I'll stop short of naming names on the shop, but when the guys in Green Bay got the bird and did proper MX they found some things that couldn't have been if the previous inspections had been done correctly or even at all. The previous owner seems a good egg and I don't think he skimped, I think he got screwed. It happens. Now I need to fix that. I expect that during the next 100 hour inspection I'll be able to tell the guys what's still wrong with the bird and get all of that sorted out, so I think I'm in good shape in a few months.

Florian,

Waiting four years? What part was so exquisite ?

It was the adapter to link our GNS530W to our 406Mhz ELT. Several suppliers over the years showed them in-stock but were unable to find one when we placed the order.
