Neat article about bringing a P-40 back to life. Always refreshing to see an old aircraft loved. Quite the unique story. http://www.warbirdsnews.com/warbirds-ne ... vices.htmlThe one in the article is being restored by The Collins Foundation. Can one visit their aircraft in Stow, Mass?

This was restored by Steve Hinton at Chino several years ago. It has resided at the Fighter Collection in Duxford Airfield in the UK ever since and was flown often. It was recently sold to the CF and was disassembled and just arrived in FL last week. American Aero will assemble and license it for them. Some of their A/C spend most of the year on tour across the US. This includes a P-51, B-17 and B-24. Some of their collection is based in Stowe and they have a Jet collection that includes a replica Me-262 along with a Vietnam Jet Experience that is based in TX IIRC. Love to see the warbirds restored. When I was a little kid in the early 60's I remember hearing about P-51s available for $1,500 & wondering why my dad had not bought one yet. After all, even to a 6 year old, $1,500 for a P-51 is a no-brainer.
Love to see the pics of the old aluminum hulls basking in the New Guinea sun. I guess local politics has pretty much stopped any salvage opeations unless special permission granted.
