Yes, I know this is Beechtalk. I posted this same question over on the Twin Cessna Flyer website too. Honestly this is a more active forum and probably has more experienced operators.
I'm new to the 414 and don't have much operational experience with the airplane. It is in the shop now having GAMI's and a JPI installed.
I ran my Baron with 550's LOP for nine years and past 2000 hours with one top-end change about half way. Those were great engines.
In the Chancellor I prefer running the RPM at 2300 as it is significantly quieter than 2400 (no snickering from you 421 drivers).
What is a good LOP manifold pressure setting at cruise in the high teens to get +/- 200 ktas at 2300 RPM? Is that doable? Any operational suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks,
John
Hi John,
I fly a 340 with the same engines you have and can do about 205 LOP at 2350-2400 and about 31.5" @21-23K. Having said that, you are going to be slower and don't know if you will be able to get it up there LOP. ROP and 65% I get around 215 kts @ 21-23K, but I know the Chancellor is going to be a good 10-15 kts slower. Try it when you get it back and see. I would be interested to know.
Who is doing the GAMIs for you?
