[*SOLD!*] was a refurbished Grimes 28V rotating beacon with red LED bulbs!

This is a Grimes G-8400A-24-24 rotating beacon built in 1961. This unit was disassembled, cleaned and lubed and old internal wiring replaced.

The original Grimes 28V reflector lamps p/n A7079B-24 were replaced with LED high output reflector lights with red LEDs, p/n RA-7512-LED-RF-RED-10-40V, from pilotlights dot net.

IMPORTANT: These bulbs are not FAA/PMA, so the replacement or installation of this article will need to be caveat-ed in the airplane maintenance log with respect to the bulbs. Each bulb consumes 220ma of power, so half an amp versus 3 amps for the incandescents. They are staggeringly bright, the video does not do it justice.
