This is still a very smooth running engine with a lot of life left. Compressions are in the lower 60’s and it uses about 1 quart every 5 hours. We have all the logs from day 1. Never a prop strike. It’s been a great engine for us but we’ve pulled the trigger on a 550 upgrade. It does throw some oil on the belly between oil changes but no oil leaks.

I’m just wondering, did they not take the 520 as core on the 550? I ask because I will be doing that in the future.

We bought a runout 550 from an individual, he didn’t need our core. In most cases you will have to return the core.
