I have my beautiful 1982 Mooney Missile (M20J with a 300hp IO550) listed with a broker here in Denver (Scott Hager - (720) 839-7652).

The pending birth of our third child forces the sale.

The aircraft just finished an extensive annual with Advanced Aircraft at KTTD and is hangared at KCFO.

I’ve been honored to be the caretaker of this great aircraft, which features a fully modernized panel, TKS, and recent paint. No known damage history, 1000lb+ useful load, recent top overhaul (~100hrs), everything works as it should.

The efficiency of the aircraft is a really great selling point. I see 160ktas on <10gph at 10-14k ft. With the long range tanks, I can routinely fly halfway across the country without stopping.

I’ve put the official ad with spec sheet and photos below.

We’re asking $229.5k, but please reach out if you’re interested. My family no longer fits!

Feel free reach out to me via PM or Scott with any questions.

Might want to advertise the usual airspeed you use can expect instead of a sub 10GPH fuel flow on an IO550. Especially for something that has the possibility of seeing plus 190 Knots.

From experience I can tell you the 3rd kid is the most expensive mod in general aviation.

This is a great plane. I’ve flown “TV” and know 2 of the recent previous owners - exceptional folks.

Haven’t had the pleasure of meeting Mr Brothers, but…congrats on your third child!

Thanks for all the kind words, Nick. I’m bummed we never got to meet up while both in the PNW, but please look me up if ever down in CO. The previous owner did my transition training and took great care of TV. I’ve tried to maintain his approach with open checkbook maintenance and tasteful upgrades.

With talk already swirling of a 4th kid, I think we are going to stay on the sidelines until we figure out what our full family looks like. I was hoping this would be our forever plane, so I want to make sure whatever we get next will work long term!

In terms of high power cruise, I typically fly high/LOP but will post results from high power cruise next time I’m out. I’ve attached a picture of the book #’s from Rocket below.

Todd - That’s a beautiful plane. Would be perfect when we decide to get back in the game!

Also known as “a spare”.

Local to the CFO area and potentially interested. But, I admittedly don't know too much about Mooneys with TKS... Does the presence of TKS on a M20J make it FIKI-capable or is it just a get-out-of-jail-free option?

As far as I know, for a Mooney to be FIKI, it has to have dual alternators, which were not available on the J's. The system might otherwise be exactly the same, but without the second alternator, it's just an inadvertent ice system.

I'm not sure if the Missile conversion included a second alternator and made FIKI possible or not.

Nope. FIKI requires 28V electrics, 2 alternators, 2 TKS pumps, and a heated $tall warning. I don't think there are any FIKI "J" models. There are some FIKI "K" (252, Encore) and a ton of FIKI "M" (Bravo), "R" (Ovation), and "TN/V (Acclaim/Ultra).

I've owned both a 231 and an Acclaim, both with TKS. Functionally, I don't think there is any difference between them WRT icing, setting aside the stall warning, so long as everything works.
