I have my beautiful 1982 Mooney Missile (M20J with a 300hp IO550) listed with a broker here in Denver (Scott Hager - (720) 839-7652). The pending birth of our third child forces the sale. The aircraft just finished an extensive annual with Advanced Aircraft at KTTD and is hangared at KCFO. I’ve been honored to be the caretaker of this great aircraft, which features a fully modernized panel, TKS, and recent paint. No known damage history, 1000lb+ useful load, recent top overhaul (~100hrs), everything works as it should. The efficiency of the aircraft is a really great selling point. I see 160ktas on <10gph at 10-14k ft. With the long range tanks, I can routinely fly halfway across the country without stopping. I’ve put the official ad with spec sheet and photos below. We’re asking $199.9k, but please reach out if you’re interested. My family no longer fits! Feel free reach out to me via PM or Scott with any questions. https://oncenterline.net/aircraft/1982- ... le-n301tv/

Might want to advertise the usual airspeed you use can expect instead of a sub 10GPH fuel flow on an IO550. Especially for something that has the possibility of seeing plus 190 Knots.

From experience I can tell you the 3rd kid is the most expensive mod in general aviation.

Thanks for all the kind words, Nick. I’m bummed we never got to meet up while both in the PNW, but please look me up if ever down in CO. The previous owner did my transition training and took great care of TV. I’ve tried to maintain his approach with open checkbook maintenance and tasteful upgrades.
With talk already swirling of a 4th kid, I think we are going to stay on the sidelines until we figure out what our full family looks like. I was hoping this would be our forever plane, so I want to make sure whatever we get next will work long term!
In terms of high power cruise, I typically fly high/LOP but will post results from high power cruise next time I’m out. I’ve attached a picture of the book #’s from Rocket below.

Todd - That’s a beautiful plane. Would be perfect when we decide to get back in the game!

Does the presence of TKS on a M20J make it FIKI-capable or is it just a get-out-of-jail-free option? Nope. FIKI requires 28V electrics, 2 alternators, 2 TKS pumps, and a heated $tall warning. I don't think there are any FIKI "J" models. There are some FIKI "K" (252, Encore) and a ton of FIKI "M" (Bravo), "R" (Ovation), and "TN/V (Acclaim/Ultra). I've owned both a 231 and an Acclaim, both with TKS. Functionally, I don't think there is any difference between them WRT icing, setting aside the stall warning, so long as everything works. -dan

The above comments are generally correct.
This is not a fiki system. The differences are the electrical (14v vs 28v), single alternator, single pump, and unheated stall warning. As far as I know, flow rates and system coverage are the same as the fiki system. Furthermore, unlike many non-fiki systems, this aircraft has a sprayer bar for the windscreen, so you’re not reliant on the prop slinger for clearing the windscreen.
Worth pointing out too that the aircraft has 2 batteries in the tail, which would give significant backup power in case of an alternator failure.
While we’re on the topic, another interesting feature of the Missile (and Rocket) is a fully feathering prop. It gives the plane a significantly improved glide ratio vs the standard J.
