V-tail Bo to a jet is an unusual transition unless there was some sort of step change in financial situation. I can appreciate that fact, but my question is regarding the piloting skills and insurability... not the cost; not to be cavalier about money, but we live significantly below our means by choice...

It’s a very easy airplane to fly and with some good training, your transition is doable. You also can get insurance. There will definitely be some mentor requirements and it will be expensive for a while.

She is sold on Antoni's behalf. Truly a magnificent airplane; it will be hard to repeat this task. Antoni, I hope we meet again.

Well, I have completed the start of the journey. A few days ago I passed my checkride for this airplane with single pilot exemption. I had significant experience in lear 20 series and MU2 aircraft that was 33 years old. I had to learn to fly all over again. This time with my fingers. Teaching an old dog new tricks was akin to teaching a cat to bark. “Engage autopilot on a single engine go around?” Really? YES. We used to hand fly the lear at .78 until leveling off then engage autopilot to attain.80. I am convinced that all this hand flying has made me a better pilot. But now Flying single pilot in a citation requires a lot of autopilot especially in high workload environments. Now I get it. I was selling a twin bonanza and was going to buy a V tail but stumbled into cypress aircraft with Mike Tarver and Jay Curtis. Everyone looking for a v tail does not have the financial resources that God has blessed me with, I realize that. But having owned a 421 has taught me about expensive parts and annuals. So I bit on it. The rest of the story has yet to be written, however I really think the pot holes usually encountered will be similar dollars as a heavy piston twin with the support of Mike and Jay and their wealth of knowledge and real world experience and parts resources. The abilty to make the real flight levels and out of the weather in a short time is worth the extra it may cost over lesser aircraft. The single engine performancce alone provides a lot of lattitude for pilot proficiency. There is no such thing as a routine engine failure in any piston twin or many turboprops. Anyone considering a move should consider this airplane. So many mechanics have worked on them, the systems are pretty robust, the engines are time tested and yeah, it burns a little more fuel but fuel is only $ when you are flying it and you can buy a lot of fuel with the difference you will pay for vs a lot of more efficient machines. Not the fastest, but for under 800 miles not that big of a deal unless westbound on the wrong day. I was always wanting an excuse to buy an MU2 short body which is probably the closest airplane in cost and performance. Now I have N501RC. Cypress set me up with Orlando Jet Training and I received the best instruction I have had in my life. When my insurance broker wanted to hose me, tarver set me up with a broker who provided an A++ carrier that knew the game and knew airplanes. I was able to fly it home after competing Orlando Jet Training without a babysitter. CYpress is the real deal. No BS.
This is a head trip for me. Owning and flying an airplane that I gawked at as a line boy/flight instructor in the early 80’s. When I flew the lear we made fun of citations. What a great airplane. IT is a joy to fly. I compare its solid feel and responsiveness to a 182. I will keep this thread alive with an occasional comment. Life is good.

It's downright economical in comparison now
