A fellow member brought this ad up at dinner and we started to do some what ifs. The wives however caught wind of the conversation and we got the double veto. Neat plane.

Do the wives regularly travel any distance with you? If yes and you are able to do a demo of one of your trips with them in a 501 they would change their minds in a second. 350KTAS in pressurized comfort above the weather will reset anyone's mind. Not to mention a 501 (or other straight-wing twinjet) is by far the safest aircraft out there period.

That said, it never stops the dreaming and "maybe in XX years when the kids are all through college" type thoughts! It’s less than you think for maintenance.

My home base is 30x3300’ concrete, would this bad boy get in and out with 4000’ DA with an above average pilot that understands he’s gonna be in the weeds on an aborted takeoff? Appealing as we have a 32K jet A for the crop dusting business at this strip.
