Greeting Beech owners and pilots!
I'm a 700+ IFR private pilot looking forward to taking delivery of N6641M, a 1979 A36, hopefully in the next month or two.
The owner of 41M has been a family friend for over 50 years, and has been flying since 1961. He's owned 41M since 1981 so I'll be only the third owner. The current owner has known me since I was 2 years old, and is very nearly my surrogate father. We're very close so I almost feel like it is a family obligation to take care of 41M for many years to come. And of course the current owner would like to stay in contact with her and go flying every once in a while - my ownership of her will allow that to happen as often as possible.
41M has been on some epic adventures and has served the current owner very well for 30 years. I plan on having her serve me for another good 20 years or more.
I'm apprehensive of course because this is a huge obligation, but at the same time I fly enough to know that in actuality this is a smart thing to do. And like I said, I feel that this is almost my duty.
As in everything in aviation, I know there is way more to learn about the plane, about plane ownership, and everything else, but I can think of no better opportunity than to have the man who has owned, flown and maintained the plane for so long be so close - I feel like I have my own personal 41M expert available for coaching and encouragement.
Anyhow - I am looking forward to the experience of Beech ownership and the many friends I know are awaiting me at every airport!
