Howdy Gang, I finally decided to register here and will mainly be a lurker... I've been a Mooney owner for a bit over 5 years now, and took the wonderful APS course in 2007 soon after getting my plane. I mainly participate over at mooneyspace.com and the AOPA Forums, but there is a LOT of general knowledge over here so I figured I might as well sign up. I'm glad to see George, Walter and John active here. I love my Mooney, especially since it fits my mission and more importantly my operational budget perfectly, but I like Bonanzas and many other planes too! I rented a V-tail many years ago and got 10 or 15 hours in it before it left the rental operation. A TN-A36/B36 is an ultimate dream plane for me, but I don't have the need or budget for such a steed right now. I do most of my own wrenching owner-assist style and am a stress engineer in the aircraft industry for my day job, so perhaps I can contribute to some topics from the manufacturer point of view...

Again, we welcome you here. Scott, heed the advice above.... I too have recently moved from my trusty M20F of 800 hours to an A36..... this place is dangerous Mike

Thanks all! I'll see if I can scrounge up some good pics to share soon! I don't use retreads, either. I am by definition *frugal* since I own a Mooney, but I stretch my budget by flying LOP and on-condition maintenance, so I can spend the funds for upgrades. (Retreads have some anecdotal trouble in some Mooneys due to clearance issues in the wells...so I don't use them.) I haven't flown an A36 yet, but I know them to be fine, fine planes. I'm immune to upgrade fever since I don't have the budget to move up. The M20J occupies a real sweet spot in the market in terms of XC travel capability:budget ratio, and to get something measurably better/more capable requires a disproportionate outlay of extra funds. I'm happy with what I've got, for now....
