Hi to all, I’m a soon to be 76 year old ATP trying to get my “wings” back again. I did most of my flying in the 80’s when I PIC’d various equipment for a govt agency. Lots of time outside the U.S. Big mixture of high and fast and low and slow. Mountains, jungle, open water, high density altitude airports, etc.
Didn’t fly for more than 20 years then in 2012 I managed about 30 hours, some Mooney time, some aerobatics and best of all, an hour in an SNJ doing loops and rolls over Lake Champlain.
In late 2012 I had open heart for replacement of a troublesome aortic valve. Haven’t flown since then but am trying to get back in the game. Currently working my way through the FAA medical process.
Have never owned an aircraft but I think it’s time now to take the plunge (assuming of course that I’m able to get a green light on my medical).
I was thinking of a Mooney 252 TSE until just recently when I realized that getting in and out of one would be problematic given the arthritits in my knees.
So I think I am in the process of discovering the Bonanza. And so far I really like what I see. Frustrating though because when I see one I like I can’t take the next step without a medical.
Would like to hear from anyone who has advice on buying the first aircraft and especially buying a Bonanza.
