He said every pilot that comes in for a tour of the facility always wants to meet him! Maybe we could get Nate to organize us a BT tour of the facility so we can all meet this guy in person. He is a fun gut to talk to! I'll never forget this one night I had given a buddy of mine a ride back to Tulsa after a Husker-Michigan State football game. Since it was after all of the games that afternoon were just getting over, there were planes everywhere. Somebody was trying to get a clearance to fly to Stillwater and this guy comes on and says "There's so many planes flyin' outta Stillwater right now it's like somebody's huntin' dog just busted a big ole covey of quail..." Sounded a lot funnier on the radio that night but it was one of the many one liners he had that night. Classic.

Thanks for the nice welcome everyone. I do know Nate, he is actually one of my supervisors. A fellow controller and I are working on buying his K35 (im sure he'll miss it lots). I got to fly with the Beechnuts last summer and they seem like a great group to get involved with. I plan on hanging around that group once I get established. Gotta get the required 5hrs in the plane for insurance and I plan on doing a few little trips to get to know the flight characteristics before attempting all the formation stuff!

Hello everyone! I am the "fellow controller" that Grant keeps on talking about. I am also a 29 year old (well...at least for a few more weeks) Air Traffic Controller at Kansas City Center. Even though I first got my PPL back in 2001, I only have a fraction of Grant's hours. However, that will be quickly changing ! I have been putting off getting my IFR for the last year or so until I finally bought a plane. So now I plan on getting my IFR within the next year and taking full advantage of being an airplane owner. No more "let me check if it's available" when my daughter begs me to go flying at the last minute . I look forward to meeting several of you at OSH this coming week.
