You need to study the equipment. You need to switch fuel tanks and remember to put the gear down, and get a different view of the world. The Bonanza is far easier to land than the C172. If you bounce a landing, it's all you. Handling the constant speed prop is different but, in my opinion, easier to fly. You'll get used to the speed differences quickly. You need to think "ahead of the airplane" but it's not hard. You'll be flying more "by the numbers", particularly when you start your instrument work. Transition really isn't a big deal, you just need someone who knows the thing to clue you in on what to look for (and make sure you get in the habit of puting the feet down before landing!). That gear thing really is a big deal, you can't forget it even once. Yes, you need to handle stalls and listen/feel for them. Take care of them when they start to develop. Unlike a C172 you simply can't allow a stall to turn into a spin. Ever. Dan

If you're chartering planes for the family, you should dump all that and get a TN G36 for your trips to Florida with the family. Jason, Good point, but there could be an argument to still charter. More room, professional pilot and more capable plane and better dispatch and safety. Plus one can socialize with the family in the back. Yes, you and I would prefer to fly ourselves. However I have a few friends that have their personal Bonanza for short predictable trips and charter or own a turboprop or jet for more capability with a hired crew. Sure, costs more.

Aah. One day I'll be able to sit in the back and just yell my orders up to the front.

How does this happen? Seems there's a lot of equipment this person can't operate if he's running out of fuel.

Username Protected wrote: Ouch, that just sucks, hope evryone got out ok Max? There were two aboard...both good swimmers...both OK. Date was 9/7/2008. The pilot/owner was/is a professional prop-jet pilot. We had another plane submerge in the Tennessee River just yesterday. It was a C150 doing touch and goes. No details, only speculation about fuel starvation.
