Hey,

So, after 35 yrs of rentals I figure it's about time to step up and become an owner. This site has been super helpful already. I'm probably gonna start looking for Debs (only need 4 seats and budget probably will dictate), but not ruling out any of those sexy V birds. Gonna look for a 285 hp mill due to the Rocks to my west (nothing like power and distance below when over the peaks), and besides, the sound and kts are almost worth the cost of admission. Hot rods are always a welcome thing, anyway.

Ordered the two books by Larry Ball to get up to speed.

Thanks, already!

Hi Scott,
 Welcome to BT and the Wonderful World of Beech. Don't count out the Debs just yet. Many have been upgraded from the 225HP IO-470-K (like mine) to the 260HP IO-470-N. I'm plenty happy with my 225HP, but my airport is 150' MSL ;)

The short bodied Beeches (sounds like a slur, don't it?!?) are the best lookers IMHO. And with just me and the wifey, it's plenty of room for nice fast cross-country trips.

Also, I got mine at fire-sale pricing last year (mid 30's) due to mostly original panel and deferred maintenance. Replacing a cylinder tomorrow, but that's part of the game when flying at the bottom of the barrel. But hey... it's MY plane and nobody leaves candy wrappers on the floor and 3 quarts low on the dipstick like the rental fleet :pullhair: . I know all of her warts (...now) and when I show up to fly, she is just the way I left her

I notice the gaggle of bikes for sale. That's a tough choice. I've had motorcycles since I was 18 (almost 30 years) and I just sold my Concours last month after several years of barely riding her... BECAUSE I HAVE A DEBONAIR NOW :D

I tell my wife that I just traded girlfriends; I dumped Connie for Debbie

Again, welcome to BeechTalk. You will find this site addicting. It has all the information you'll need to help make the right decision. Also, you'll probably want to join ABS, The American Bonanza Society, for all of their Bo/Deb specific technical info.

Good luck in your search and keep us posted

Scott, welcome to BT. Everything you wanted to know about Beech and all the things we never knew existed. The best aviation site on the web. Good to have you with us.
