Hello all, I just purchased N4279D a 1956 G35 that has been sitting on the ramp at Mulino (4S9) for some time. The owner has aged out and passed it along to me with what I believe to be all the records since new.
My expertise is in restoring pre WW2 aircraft and just finished restoring a 1941 Piper J4E that has been apart since 1954 we found in a chicken coop. I also have a very small retirement business Waldo Hills Aircraft Sales and Salvage where I sell mostly pre 1950's parts all over the world.
I originally was interested in parting the old gal out but on closer inspection it may be salvageable but is well outside of my comfort zone to attempt. I plan to pull a few panels, drain the tanks of the remaining fuel, change the oil, take a borescope look at the cylinders, pull a rocker cover or two off to check for corriosin, and see if it will start. The last annual was in 2008, it has 3460 TT and 1540 SMOH. I have been told by the airport manager the owner would come by and start it every now and then and last start may be a couple years ago.
At this point I am not sure what the future will be for it but seeing if it starts will be a huge step.
