Hi,

Fairly new PPL (finally finished it last year after 20 years of on/off training), and just became the new owner of a 1966 A23-19 Musketeer. Looking forward to the joys of aircraft ownership!

Rob

Welcome - go check out beech aero club https://beechaeroclub.org/ That's the forum for the 'baby beeches' like you just bought. Great expertise and info. Good luck.

Hi Rob. As a fellow Baby Beech owner let me congratulate you on your purchase. They are a great first plane and I hope you get a lot of enjoyment and use out of yours. No better feeling then to be able to jump in your own bird and go wherever you want whenever.

 on beechaeroclub.org

Feel free to PM if you want to chat Musketeers.

Welcome aboard! My first plane was a 1974 Sundowner which is very similar to yours. Very nice planes.

Welcome aboard

In the last two weeks I have seen a surge of owners replacing their wing seals with wider silicone version

Length is 96” per side

Tail wider seal also

I believe there is a seal around the gear strut to wing also

Welcome to the exciting club of ownership. I flew my Sundowner nearly 1000 hours over the 7 years I owned it. Purchase price is just the admission fee. As others have said join the type club. I want to make you aware your landing gear donuts are in desperate need of replacement. The nose wheel appears to be the worst, but the mains are also way too low. Failure to address this can lead bent wing ribs/spars. I had to do them on my plane and it makes a big difference in ground handling, takeoffs and landings.

Peace,
Don

Thanks for the welcome. I'm looking into the donuts situation. Does anyone know of any Beech published data on the limits of the donuts or the expected gear geometry? All I can see in the maintenance manual is "visible deterioration" which is about as subjective as the usefulness of a chocolate teapot. I've read anecdotally about the visibility of the knee pins, just wondered if there was official guidance.
